Massive Pro-Palestinian Protests in New York City
In a significant show of solidarity, over 320 pro-Palestinian protesters were arrested in New York City for blocking traffic across several major bridges and tunnels, demanding a ceasefire in Gaza. The protests, which lasted for more than two hours during rush hour, caused massive traffic jams and disrupted the city’s flow.The Protests and Arrests
The protesters blocked roads near the Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Williamsburg bridges, as well as the Holland Tunnel. By 11:15 a.m., the New York Police Department (NYPD) and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey had made 325 arrests.Most of the protesters faced misdemeanor charges with a desk-appearance ticket. The protests were organized by members of several groups, including the Palestinian Youth Movement, the Palestine Right to Return Coalition, Jewish Voice for Peace, and Writers Against the War on Gaza.
